John Williams

It’s not often you’ll find the principal of a PR firm who has also held executive level positions in marketing, business development and product management. It’s what separates Scoville’s perspective of public relations from that of other firms. It’s what allows us to fundamentally understand the role that PR plays within the larger framework of a client’s goals. It’s what allows us to bring Concentrated Power™ to the practice of public relations.

A senior communications executive, John has nearly 20 years experience in every facet of marketing and public relations both inside agencies and corporations. His publicity strategies and execution continue to result in features on clients in nearly every respected and influential media outlet in the county, if not the world, including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Time Magazine, CNN, NPR, USA Today, Washington Post, NY Times, Fortune Small Business, Discovery Channel, PBS, NBC’s Today Show, ABC World News Tonight – even the Jay Leno Show. He enjoys personal and professional relationships with key editors and reporters in a wide range of media. In 2006, he was featured in PR Week for his national PR campaign for Flexcar, called “The Low Car Diet.”

John is also an accomplished writer, and has been published in numerous newspapers and trade journals under his own or his clients’ byline. He has also been the featured speaker at numerous industry events and tradeshows, including Marketing Communications Executives International and the American Marketing Association.

John is active in the Seattle community, having served for more than a decade on the board of trustees for Children’s Home Society, the state’s oldest and largest non-profit for children and families. He was presented the 2003 Founder’s Award for outstanding service during his tenure. He also serves on a communications advisory board for the YMCA of Greater Seattle, the public relations committee for the regional American Cancer Society and the program committee of the MIT Enterprise Forum. He is a past president of the board of Seattle Works, Seattle’s pioneering volunteer network for young adults and is a board member of Marketing Communications Executives International.
